The Silver Surfer, also known as Norrin Radd, first appeared in *Fantastic Four* #48 (March 1966). He originates from the planet Zenn-La, a world of advanced and peaceful beings.
To save his planet from the world-devouring Galactus, Norrin Radd volunteered to become his herald, empowered with the Power Cosmic. He transformed into the Silver Surfer, granted cosmic abilities and a metallic, surfboard-like vehicle.
The Silver Surfer was tasked with finding planets for Galactus to consume, but his conscience eventually led him to rebel against his master, particularly after witnessing the value of life on Earth.
